Occupational Therapist (Band 5/6) Kent
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Ltd is seeking an Occupational Therapist (Band 5/6) to join their multi-disciplinary team in Kent. This full-time, on-site role involves providing specialist occupational therapy services to children aged 0-25 in clinic, school, and community settings. You will manage a caseload, perform assessments, develop treatment plans, and work collaboratively with families and professionals.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
- Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of specialist OT services in clinic, schools, and children’s centres.
- Manage a caseload of individuals (0-25 years) with neurological, coordination, sensory processing, and behavioural needs.
- Devise and participate in creating product lines and services including training, group/individual therapy, and professional development for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Ltd.
Clinical – Assessment and Treatment Planning
- Prioritise caseload and ongoing tasks.
- Carry out assessments in clinic, school, or home settings.
- Perform specialist OT assessment using advanced clinical reasoning and knowledge of child development.
- Use specialist assessment tools for self-care, development, physical, sensory, gross/fine motor skills.
- Analyse and interpret results to form accurate judgments and identify OT goals.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, re-evaluate progress, and authorise discharge.
Clinical – Interventions and Treatments
- Plan and implement specialist child-centred individual/group interventions.
- Re-evaluate and adapt treatment programmes.
- Identify appropriate treatment approaches based on evidence-based practice.
- Monitor intervention effectiveness.
Clinical – Analytical / Judgmental Skills
- Analyse and interpret complex assessment results to contribute to diagnosis.
- Identify OT goals as part of care plan.
- Identify and implement appropriate treatment approaches.
- Monitor intervention effectiveness and make referrals as needed.
Clinical – Communication
- Provide support and advice to parents, carers, and schools, adjusting language to comprehension level.
- Use non-verbal communication, sign, and augmentative aids.
- Provide and receive complex sensitive information with empathy.
- Communicate effectively with team members, colleagues, and other agencies.
- Attend meetings to provide specialist advice and maintain accurate clinical records.
Person Specification
Qualifications: BSc Hons in Occupational Therapy (min 2:1), HCPC Registration. Experience in paediatric OT, implementation of interventions, report writing. Desirable: SEN environment, Sensory Integration, Neuro-disability, Therapeutic Listening.
