Team you'll be working in: Account Communications. We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Account Communications team. We own the platform that delivers millions of customer communications every day — emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and more.

How we work: For everything we do, we keep our customers' needs in mind. We prioritise projects using research based on the data, collect the feedback from customers and learn from our mistakes. At [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], we believe in independent teams where we define our priorities ourselves and everyone can contribute with ideas and suggestions.

Impact: Your work will directly impact millions of customers who rely on [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] to keep them informed about their money. The communications we deliver carry regulatory obligations and are essential to maintaining customer trust — reliability and accuracy at this scale is what makes the challenge exciting.

What will you be working on? Key focus areas for the team are: Improving delivery reliability and visibility across all communication channels. Evolving our platform infrastructure for scale and cost efficiency. Building tooling to help teams manage customer communications. Adding new capabilities to existing platforms.

What do you need? You know how to deliver complex product solutions and build distributed systems which are used by thousands of customers every hour. You are proficient in backend programming languages like Java, Kotlin, Python or Go and willing to learn and work with Java services. You have extensive experience in designing and implementing asynchronous, reliable and scalable systems in microservices environments. You have a strong product mindset and genuine passion for user experience. Clean, efficient, and well-tested code is your standard. You are comfortable using AI-assisted development tools and apply engineering judgement to everything you ship.

Nice to Have: Experience with messaging or event-driven systems. Experience working with email delivery infrastructure. Experience in API-first development. Experience with IaC is a plus.
