Senior Scientist
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Group is hiring a Senior Scientist in New Milton, Hampshire. On-site role. Up to £50k based on experience. Closing date: 30 May 2026.
Main Purpose of Job Role
A hands-on role for a qualified Scientist, able to provide technical support to customers and internally. Principal company expert and main contact for queries, testing, product selection, new product development, problem resolution and production support.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Identification and specification of new product opportunities.
- Development and testing of prototypes; evaluation of materials; modification of processes.
- Finding new sources of current materials; supplier liaison and lab evaluations.
- Integral part of cross functional team that develops new products.
- Establishing and enhancing customer relations through excellent customer service.
- Providing technical support to other parts of the company for items manufactured at New Milton and associated items produced by a 3rd party on behalf of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].
- To investigate and resolve customer problems and returns.
- Compile reports for customers detailing test results and recommendations.
- Produce technical documentation, quality procedures, test methods and validation documents.
- Able to evaluate customer requirements and define most suitable filtration solution. Integral part of team responding to new enquiries.
- Run training for customers & PFG employees on filtration & cleanroom products.
- Main technical contact for key accounts where [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] have a contract manufacture agreement.
- Ensure all claims and performance data published by PFG are accurate and can be demonstrated as such, especially for bought-in products. To review and assess supplier supporting data.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
- Bio chemistry competence or qualification
- MSc or PhD
- Experience working in the filtration industry
- Knowledge of filtration products and techniques
- Familiarity with microbiological techniques and environmental monitoring methods
- Presenting at Seminars and Conferences
- Running testing at customer sites
- Auditing Suppliers
Skills & Knowledge Required
- General laboratory equipment, including microscopy, flow versus pressure drop, particle counting, Porometry, etc.
- Versant with FDA, Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical & Medical regulations
- Understanding of the requirements to maintain, monitor and approve production within a Cleanroom
- Problem solving techniques such as 8D, 6 Sigma
- Fully competent with MS office.
Experience Required
- Laboratory experience with standard chemistry and microbiology techniques.
- Experience of working to E.U. GMP / FDA pharmaceutical standards.
- Proven to be work well within a small team
- Working within a Cleanroom – Class 8 or higher
