Purpose of the role:

If you are looking for a driving role with Monday to Friday family friendly daytime hours, on standard 8 hour shifts and local routes, then this would be a great opportunity for you.

As a Class 2 Driver/Loader you will be driving the company vehicle safely, load, transport and unload waste and recycling materials according to the agreed customer requirements, [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Company procedure and all external legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To drive / operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and legal requirements and as required by the company in accordance with the valid licence, experience and training for that vehicle / equipment
  • Responsible to ensure route completion and tasks are completed to [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Company's, required standards
  • Tipping of vehicle at designated and approved refuse facility and to load and unload waste materials in accordance with [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Company's policy, procedures, training and legal requirements, complying with all health and safety requirements
  • To use mobile IT equipment and to complete daily paperwork as appropriate
  • Undertake any training / instruction required to carry out these duties and or deemed necessary to fulfil the role
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of vehicles and equipment to a high standard, including daily vehicle checks on any vehicle driven
  • To deal with colleagues, customers and other non – [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Company personnel in a polite, responsible and professional manner
  • To remain in contact with Supervisor and office staff and be responsive to operational needs and to aid Commercial growth through close relationships with sales staff and reporting back any opportunities for growth
  • To work flexibly between location, including Avonmouth, Albert Road Depot and Hartcliffe, to provide operational cover across the services of Commercial, Street Cleansing, Garden Waste, Refuse and Recycling and to carry out all other tasks deemed reasonable

  • To attend and keep up to date with all relevant training

Essential Requirements for the Role:

  • Must hold a Class 2 licence, CPC and Digital Drivers Card
  • Experience or ability to undertake regular vehicle checks including oil, water and battery levels
  • Experience or ability to demonstrate suitability for physical work involving pushing/pulling waste bins and lifting recycling boxes up to 25kg
  • The ability to understand and complete daily defect sheets
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently and to use own initiative
  • The ability to work well within a small team
  • The ability to use IT systems
