Graduate Engineer

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Ltd is seeking a Graduate Engineer to support preparation of competitive tender designs and cost estimates for ground engineering and civil engineering solutions. The role is designed to develop technical, commercial and professional skills while contributing to the successful securing of profitable, safe and sustainable work for the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing accurate and competitive tenders and estimates across a range of ground engineering and civil engineering disciplines.
  • Support the development of safe, practical and cost-effective engineering solutions for tender opportunities.
  • Review drawings, specifications, contract documents and ground investigation information to support tender submissions.
  • Assist in identifying technical, commercial and operational risks at tender stage and contribute to risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support the preparation of tender proposals in line with company procedures and the Integrated Management System.
  • Liaise with estimators, engineers, commercial and operational teams to ensure tender submissions are coordinated, accurate and commercially robust.
  • Support communication with clients and external stakeholders throughout the tender process, including attendance at site visits, meetings and online discussions as required.
  • Assist with project handovers for secured work to design, commercial and operations teams in accordance with company procedures.
  • Contribute to a collaborative one-team approach, particularly on multi-discipline opportunities.
  • Build knowledge of ground engineering and civil engineering techniques and methodologies, estimating principles, cost build-ups, value engineering and risk management, and industry standards.
  • Gain experience in tendering processes and commercial decision-making through supervised involvement in live projects.
  • Actively engage in training, mentoring and personal development to build a career in estimating or commercial management.
  • Develop awareness of all relevant Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality objectives and legal requirements.
  • Carry out all duties responsibly in accordance with company policies, procedures and the Integrated Management System.
  • Maintain the highest professional standards at all times, particularly with regard to safety, quality, productivity and company representation.

  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) degree (2:2 or above) in Civil Engineering, Geology, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline essential.
  • Interest in engineering, estimating, commercial management or pre-construction.
  • Full UK driving licence (or willingness to work towards) desirable.
