Overview

A growing Belfast law practice is seeking an experienced Wills & Probate Solicitor to lead and develop its Private Client offering. This is an urgent hire and a rare opportunity for the right individual to take ownership of what has the potential to become a major department within the firm.

The Opportunity

You will handle a broad and varied caseload across all aspects of private client work while playing a key role in shaping and expanding the department. With strong leadership support already in place, this role offers genuine autonomy without the pressure of business development responsibility falling solely on your shoulders. The firm intends to recruit dedicated support staff in the short to medium term once the successful candidate is established, ensuring you have the resources needed to grow the function effectively.

The Role

You will manage a diverse private client caseload, including:

  • Drafting wills and providing estate planning advice
  • Administration of estates (testate and intestate)
  • Enduring Powers of Attorney and controllership applications
  • Advising clients on inheritance and succession matters
  • Maintaining exceptional client care throughout sensitive matters.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor with substantial experience in wills and probate
  • Strong technical knowledge across private client work
  • STEP membership, or working towards STEP qualification is highly desirable
  • Ability to manage matters independently and sensitively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable engaging with clients on sensitive issues
  • Willingness to support departmental growth and visibility
  • Interest in building a long-term career within the firm

Rewards

  • Competitive salary and benefits package (dependent on experience)
  • Immediate opportunity to take a leading role in a developing department
  • Clear pathway for long-term progression
  • Support from directors committed to growing the practice
  • Future support staff to assist with workload
  • Stable, long-term position within an ambitious firm.
