Senior Employee Relations Advisor

The role can be based in Leeds or Manchester, with ad hoc travel to other UK offices. This is a permanent, full-time position with a competitive salary.
WHAT TEAM WILL YOU BE JOINING
You'll be joining our HR Business Partnering Team as a dedicated Employee Relations specialist within a wider HR function that includes Learning & Development, Reward, Resourcing, HR Operations and DE&I. Employee Relations work collaboratively with these groups as well as Legal, Risk and Compliance, to deliver consistent, risk‑aware, people‑focused solutions across the Firm.

WHAT WILL THE ROLE INVOLVE
The ER Advisor role will predominantly support the Firm's Business Services Teams, by providing high‑quality employee relations advice, leading and supporting casework, and partnering the HRBP Team and people managers to navigate sensitive employee relations matters with confidence, consistency and sound judgement. The role can be based in our Manchester or Leeds office, with ad hoc travel to the other UK offices, as required.
Employee Relations Casework
- Manage a diverse ER caseload including disciplinary, grievance, performance, sickness/absence, flexible working, probation, and capability matters.
- Provide timely, clear and pragmatic advice that balances legal risk, business need and employee experience.
- Advise on sensitive cases, including those involving misconduct risks, discrimination allegations, or reputational/regulatory implications.
- Ensure all documentation meets high standards of accuracy and governance, remaining audit‑ready in a regulated and compliance‑driven environment.
- Manage robust ER investigations, gathering evidence, interviewing individuals, and presenting balanced, well documented findings.
- Ensure processes are impartial, transparent, and aligned with best‑practice standards in employee relations.
- Handle all ER matters with empathy, discretion and professionalism, supporting an inclusive and respectful culture. Promote fairness, respect, and high‑quality employee experience throughout the ER process.
Manager Coaching & Capability Building
- Coach and guide managers to build capability in handling people issues confidently, consistently and in line with policy and employment law.
- Support design and delivery of ER‑related training (e.g., investigations, performance management, resolution skills, dignity at work).
- Promote early intervention and proactive issue‑spotting to reduce risk and escalation.
Policy, Process & Governance
- Support the consistent interpretation and application of people policies across the Firm, promoting adherence to best practice.
- Contribute to policy reviews and updates, ensuring alignment with employment law, internal governance and regulatory expectations.
ER Insights & Continuous Improvement
- Analyse ER case trends, MI and feedback to identify early‑warning indicators and opportunities for proactive intervention.
- Contribute to improvement projects and initiatives within the ER space and the wider HR function, helping evolve processes, enhance capability and strengthen the overall employee experience.
WHAT SKILLS WILL HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE
- Ideally you will be of graduate calibre and either part or fully CIPD qualified, with solid proficiency in HR systems, Microsoft Office, and case management tools.
- Proven experience managing a broad range of ER cases in a regulated, complex, or professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practice ER processes, with confidence advising managers on sensitive or challenging issues.
- Excellent communicator who can give clear, practical guidance and build trusted relationships quickly.
- High attention to detail with strong documentation standards and the ability to handle confidential matters with sound judgment.
- Organised, self driven, and comfortable managing multiple cases in a fast paced environment.
- Collaborative and improvement minded, using insights and trends to drive better outcomes and support a positive employee experience.
