We are looking for a WordPress expert with strong UX design skills to help grow our content site to 20 million views. Responsibilities include developing the WordPress theme, maintaining plugins, performing UX audits, and contributing UX expertise to the Alitu web app. Salary £22k-£30k, fully remote.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Developing the theme for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] to be more user-friendly, action-oriented, better looking, and faster.
  • Maintaining existing plugins and building new custom functionality.
  • Maintenance and backup of both [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] and the Academy.
  • Regular UX audits and planning for improvements.
  • User engagement audits and planning for improvement.
  • WordPress sitespeed monitoring and improvement.
  • Contribute UX help to the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] web app.

Core Skills

  • WordPress development skills – PHP, building themes from base, modifying plugins.
  • UX experience – an eye for good user experience.
  • Design skills – able to create great layouts and landing pages.
  • Clean coder – efficiency and minimalism in code.

Bonus Points

  • Expert WordPress development – building themes and plugins from scratch.
  • Podcasting experience.
  • Technical SEO – optimising WordPress themes and sites.

Details

  • Salary: £22,000 - £30,000 ($28k-$38k USD) depending on experience.
  • Hours: Flexible – half week (20hrs) to full week (40 hrs).
  • Schedule: Flexible working hours.
  • Location: Primarily remote, with offices in Dundee, Edinburgh, and Adelaide.
