To support this journey, we are looking for a forward-thinking and results-oriented Senior Data Engineer (f/m/d) for Systematic Investment Platforms to join our Investment Technology team.
In this role, you will help design and deliver scalable data solutions that empower investment research, systematic portfolio management and quantitative analytics across our global Portfolio Management function. You will play a key role in advancing our data-driven investment processes by advancing our big data platforms, pipelines and backend services in a modern agile environment.

This position will be based in Frankfurt or Munich.
What you will do
- Advance our systematic big data platform based latest Databricks technology
- Enable onboarding of further investment teams and design and engineer their data solutions
- Design, build and evolve scalable data pipelines for investment research, analytics and decision support
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT workflows for structured, unstructured, market, reference and alternative data
- Engineer robust data models and storage solutions to support quantitative research and downstream applications
- Build and maintain backend components and APIs that provide reliable access to data products and platform services
- Contribute to technical design decisions for data-intensive systems, ensuring scalability, performance, security and regulatory compliance
- Integrate data solutions into AI and machine learning use-cases and support the continued evolution of our investment technology platform
- Work closely with investment teams, analysts, architects and governance stakeholders to translate business and data requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Support platform operations through monitoring, issue resolution and continuous improvement
- Contribute to engineering standards, best practices and a compliant software development lifecycle
- Continuously stay informed about relevant technologies and market developments that can strengthen the platform and its capabilities
What you bring
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering or data platform engineering
- University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong hands-on experience developing, deploying and operating production-grade solutions in Python
- Strong SQL and data modelling skills
- Proven experience building and operating scalable data pipelines and distributed data processing workflows
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, data lakes and cloud-based data platforms
- Exposure to latest Databricks features such as SDP, Feature Store, Mosaic
- Experience with relational databases and modern data storage concepts
- Good understanding of backend application design, APIs and integration patterns for data-intensive systems
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and modern SDLC / DevOps tooling such as Git, GitHub/GitLab and Jira
- Ability to contribute to technical design and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
- Exposure to AI / GenAI / ML-enabled solutions is an advantage
- Relevant experience in investment management, financial instrument and investment data desired
- Strong written and spoken English skills
- Agile mindset, collaborative working style and a high level of ownership
