Catastrophe Risk Analyst, Reinsurance

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is currently recruiting an experienced Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join our UK&I Property Team in London.

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s Catastrophe Analytics team is the best regarded of its kind in Europe. The team sits within [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Reinsurance Solutions and provides clients (UK insurance companies, syndicates and reinsurers) with advice on their exposures to natural disasters such as windstorms, floods and earthquakes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the client analytics lead on reinsurance analytics and lead the interaction across multiple cat and non-cat analytics projects and placements.
  • Lead client portfolio analysis using catastrophe analytics and apply reinsurance structures to these portfolios. Lead client interaction on pressing topics like View of Risk, Climate Change, Inflation and Event Response.
  • Lead conversations with reinsurers, brokers and actuaries to understand exposures, review modelling results, explain modelling limitations and resolve issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and client teams outside of the UK.
  • Participate in corporate practice groups and committees related to cat modelling and cat risk management.
  • Advise clients on potential incurred losses, post-event and on a risk management basis.
  • Contribute to the suite of proprietary analytical and efficiency tools developed by [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in catastrophe analytics in a broking house, at insurers, reinsurers, or similar financial services.
  • BSc or higher qualification ideally in, finance, statistics, science or equivalent.
  • Experience in using vendor models (RMS, Verisk, JBA).
  • Experience in interpreting modelled outputs.
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, listening, and writing).
  • Strong digital literacy in MS Office suite.
  • Coding skills in SQL, Python, R (skills in machine learning are also highly beneficial).
  • Tableau or PowerBI experience.
