Job Description

As a P&C Development Underwriter, you'll drive and transform how we partner broker portfolios, with a balance of technical and trading capability. You'll be empowered to make decisions and focus on profitable growth across new business within the Manchester market. Travel within Manchester area required; tool of trade car or cash allowance provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the face of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] in presenting propositions for larger Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate risks.
  • Work with Trading Underwriters to negotiate coverage, wordings and pricing.
  • Proactively develop a robust pipeline of qualified growth opportunities.
  • Lead and embed the large case management process for new business.
  • Develop and build collaborative broker relationships, taking full ownership for generation, placement and retention of profitable commercial business.
  • Underwrite profitable new and existing business in line with underwriting controls.
  • Maintain a quality distribution strategy with key brokers to achieve financial KPIs.
  • Maintain strong understanding of regional book performance (COR, Rate, Retention).

Work Arrangements

Your Skills & Experience

  • Expert Property and Casualty technical underwriting knowledge in the Manchester market.
  • Record of securing and retaining large scale complex business through senior broker/customer relationships.
  • Evidence of technical and sales experience with effective pipeline management.
  • Insight development, customer and broker portfolio relationship management.
  • Personal impact, influence, negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • DIP Qualified or equivalent with proven track record in underwriting Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate business.

As a precondition of employment, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom. This role is defined as an IDD role requiring background screening every 4 years.
