Practice Auditor – Children’s Social Care

Role Overview

This is a high-impact opportunity to step into a critical improvement role at pace. As a Practice Auditor – Children’s Social Care, you will work at the heart of statutory services, reporting directly into senior leadership and playing a pivotal role in strengthening practice, improving consistency and supporting Ofsted readiness.

Responsibilities

• Audit & evaluation of case files to test quality, compliance and impact against statutory guidance and Ofsted expectations
• Practice improvement through clear, actionable recommendations that strengthen assessments, plans and decision-making
• Quality assurance of systems usage, ensuring mandatory actions, tools and pathways are effective and fit for purpose
• Escalation & assurance using agreed frameworks to highlight risk, drift and examples of best practice
• Collaborative working with Heads of Service to ensure timely review of cases and shared ownership of improvement

Requirements

• Proven audit expertise, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience reviewing practice and driving improvement at pace
• Registered with Social Care England, with a strong grasp of statutory responsibilities
• Performance-focused mindset, with confidence in assessing quality across high-pressure statutory services
• Strong analytical skills, comfortable working with data, reports and complex case files
• Sound safeguarding knowledge, including thresholds, risk management and decision-making
• Recent references covering your last 2 years of roles
