Design Manager

Job Description

A well-established main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join their growing team. This is a key role within the business, offering the opportunity to take full ownership of your own projects while also supporting and helping to manage an internal design team. You’ll report directly to a Senior Design & Technical Manager and play a central role in driving design quality and coordination across multiple schemes. Projects range from £5m to £15m, delivered through a mix of PCSA and traditional Design & Build routes, giving you strong exposure across different procurement methods.

The Role Will Involve

• Managing the full design process from pre-construction through to delivery
• Coordinating consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the design team
• Ensuring design programmes, information flow and quality standards are maintained
• Working closely with commercial and operational teams to deliver successful outcomes

What They’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor
• Strong understanding of both PCSA and D&B projects
• Confident managing your own workload and influencing wider teams
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
