Nursery Key Worker
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Nursery Key Worker. Based at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (52 weeks per year). Rate: £13.33 per hour. Holidays: 25 days pro-rata per annum. Sickness benefit and pension scheme available. Qualifications required: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
General Duties
- Be responsible for care and welfare of a designated group of pupils under direction of Headmaster.
- Share corporate responsibility for discipline and welfare of all pupils.
Specific Responsibilities
- Observe, assess, and plan learning activities in the moment according to children’s interests.
- Provide supervision during holiday periods under Holiday Club Supervisor.
- Support learning by observing, interacting, setting challenges, and meeting next steps.
- Record children’s progress per guidelines by Head of Early Years.
- Assemble relevant displays of children’s work.
- Assist in development of basic literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
- Encourage development and delivery of EYFS curriculum.
- Supervise children during activities, breaks, lunch, movement, and away from classroom.
- Liaise with parents regarding child’s learning and attend parent consultation evenings.
- Meet personal care needs of pupils while encouraging independence (toileting, changing, feeding).
- Maintain safe environment including hygiene and hazard removal.
- Attend Open Mornings when requested.
- Provide written reports on pupil achievement and progress.
- Assist planning learning opportunities for children with specific needs.
- Carry out any duties within the remit of this post.
- Attend relevant meetings and participate in training and professional development.
- Help with pre-term preparations, day-to-day preparation, and clearing up of teaching areas.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. Excellent understanding of EYFS curriculum and requirements. Experience within Early Years Foundation Stage. Knowledge of room organisation, learning strategies, free flow environment, EYFS welfare and development requirements, planning for learning, statutory requirements (Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, SEN, Child Protection). Skills: develop good relationships, establish effective relationships with parents and community, communicate effectively, deal with conflict, be reflective and resilient, promote School’s aims positively. Personal characteristics: committed, enthusiastic, organised, efficient, flexible, friendly, patient, kind.
Desirable: Foundation Degree or BA in Early Years. Experience with outdoor learning. Knowledge of using a range of media to teach and assess children’s progress. Excellent IT skills.
