About the Hospital

Blaise Veterinary Referral Hospital is a state-of-the-art, multi-disciplinary facility that embodies high clinical standards and a supportive, caring culture. At over 36,000 sq ft, Blaise is one of the largest veterinary hospitals in the UK, with the capacity to treat up to 10,000 pets per year.

We provide specialist-led referrals and 24/7 emergency services. Conveniently located near the A38 in Longbridge, Birmingham, Blaise is part of the West Longbridge regeneration project, offering both accessibility and a modern working environment.

Job Overview

We are excited to welcome the next intake of Small Animal Rotating Interns for 28th September 2026. This 12-month programme offers structured exposure across five core rotations: Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Anaesthesia, and Emergency Care. Interns also have the opportunity to explore additional rotations of their choice.

The internship is designed to provide hands-on clinical experience, close mentorship, and continuous professional development within a leading referral hospital.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Intern, you will gain valuable exposure to a referral or advanced clinical environment, working collaboratively with experienced veterinary surgeons, nurses, and support teams to deliver high-quality patient and client care.

This role is designed to support your clinical development, build confidence in managing more complex cases, and deepen your understanding of evidence-based veterinary medicine. You’ll actively participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and clinical governance activities, while being supported by senior clinicians and mentors.

Requirements

  • A Veterinary degree and registration with the RCVS with experience working as part of a clinical veterinary team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork and a positive and proactive attitude to learning and development
  • An interest in evidence-based veterinary medicine and clinical best practice
  • Professionalism, resilience, and the ability to remain calm in a busy clinical environment
