About the Role
We are seeking an organised, personable Receptionist to join our team at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] on a full-time basis. This is a temporary role on a fixed-term contract for approximately 9 months.
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is a well-established practice in the heart of Plymouth, with a loyal and longstanding client base. Our bright, modern practice has recently been fully refurbished, providing a welcoming environment for both clients and team members.
We are well equipped with a dedicated theatre, spacious prep room, X-ray and ultrasound facilities, and a separate dental suite with up-to-date dental X-ray. We are committed to ongoing investment in equipment and modern ways of working.
You’ll be supported by a friendly and experienced team, including five Registered Veterinary Nurses, two Animal Nursing Assistants, a Student Veterinary Nurse, and a welcoming reception team. We are proud to be RCVS Practice Standards accredited at the Small Animal General Practice level.

How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for clients, playing a key role in delivering a welcoming, professional and compassionate experience at every interaction.
You'll support the smooth running of the practice by managing appointments, handling enquiries, supporting client communications and working closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure a positive client and patient journey.
You will work 40 hours per week across 5 days per week, covering a variety of shifts between 8 am and 7:15 pm. You will also be required to work 1:2 Saturday mornings 9 am - 2 pm.
General responsibilities include:
- Liaising with the clients and the clinical staff to provide a high level of customer care.
- Meeting and greeting clients and pets.
- Booking appointments and diary management.
- Managing telephone and email enquiries.
- Taking payment for services and products.
- Managing cash and end-of-day banking.
- Maintaining a clean and safe space for our clients and their pets.
