Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], Bournemouth, Dorset

Salary up to £70,000 DOE, Relocation Allowance up to £5,000 and Welcome Bonus up to £5,000

Job Description

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is a first-opinion small animal practice with branches in Bournemouth and Poole, proudly supporting the local community for over 20 years. With a strong reputation, loyal clients and an experienced team, we are now looking for a confident Veterinary Surgeon to join us and become part of our next chapter.

Our patients include cats, dogs, rabbits, small furries and the occasional wildlife case brought in by the local community. Full-time vets enjoy a healthy balance between consulting and operating days, with the ability to tailor the role to your individual strengths and clinical interests. You’ll have the freedom to work cases up thoroughly, with well-established referral relationships in place when needed. As this role does include elements of sole charge, we’re looking for someone comfortable making decisions and working independently when required.

This position will be primarily based at our Kinson branch, with the opportunity to support the Alderney site if needed. Both sites are fully equipped with digital X-ray and ultrasound, with the Bournemouth site also offering therapeutic laser and dental radiography. We are proud to be a Gold Cat-Friendly Clinic.

Across [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] you’ll be joining a collaborative and welcoming team made up of four vets, three RVNs, two SVNs and a dedicated client care team, supported by a Director of Practice. We are also able to bring in a visiting orthopaedic specialist when required. We are very open to supporting certificates, whether you are considering starting one or are already part way through.

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is the UK and Europe’s leading veterinary care group, made up of over 900 practices and referral hospitals, united by a shared purpose of happier animals, happier owners. At [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], we believe careers should be built without limits. Our people are supported to make more clinical impact, access more career opportunities, and play an active role in their local and professional communities. Through investment in learning, innovation, and wellbeing, we create environments where our teams can grow in confidence, capability, and fulfilment—at every stage of their career.

How You’ll Make a Difference

  • This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, worked across a mixture of early and late shifts. You’ll also take part in a 1:5 Saturday morning rota from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
  • There are no out-of-hours requirements.
  • If you’re seeking part-time or flexible working, we would still love to hear from you and explore how we can make this work for everyone.

  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
