This position provides the opportunity to drive clinical excellence, mentor colleagues, and help shape the strategic direction of the practice, while maintaining a varied clinical caseload. With modern, well-equipped facilities across both sites and a strong focus on clinical freedom and flexibility, the practice offers exposure to advanced procedures including orthopaedics and laparoscopy, within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Team: 3 Veterinary Surgeons, experienced nurses, and reception team
- Certificate holders: RCVS advanced practitioners and surgical certificate holders
- Facilities (Risca): 3 consult rooms, digital x-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab, dental suite, sterilisation room
- Facilities (Langstone): Separate dog/cat wards, dental suite, x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy, advanced orthopaedic & spinal equipment
- Caseload: Mix of consults, surgery, and inpatient care with advanced orthopaedic and laparoscopic opportunities
- Role split: ~75% clinical with additional leadership, mentoring, and strategic input across both sites

How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.
You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.
- Deliver high-quality clinical care across consultations, surgery, and inpatient management
- Provide clinical leadership, mentoring, and support to the wider team
- Contribute to case discussions, clinical decision-making, and team development
- Support the ongoing growth, performance, and strategic direction of the practice
- Work collaboratively across both sites to ensure continuity of care
Working Pattern: Full-time role across 4 or 5 days per week. 1 day off per week. 1 in 5 Saturday rota (8:00am – 12:30pm). Split working between Langstone and Risca.
You Might Be a Great Fit If...
- A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
- Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
- A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
- Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
