About the Team and Culture

The successful candidate will work under direct supervision of anaesthesia specialists (1 ECVAA, 1 ACVAA, and 2 residency trained clinicians) to provide anaesthesia and analgesia for a varied surgical and diagnostic case load. We're part of a multicultural, fun team of clinicians, residents, rotating and discipline interns who support each other. Currently, the hospital offers specialist services in diagnostic imaging, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, internal medicine, oncology, neurology, and ophthalmology. We also have an Advanced Practitioner led Cardiology service and a dedicated Rehabilitation team. The hospital is modern and spacious, and we're lucky to have a very large and convenient prep area and office at the heart of the hospital. You’ll receive training to manage anaesthesia and sedation of varied complexity and will gain competency in skills such as ultrasound guided locoregional blocks. You will always manage your own anaesthesia cases under the supervision of one of our clinicians. The internship program is aimed at preparing the candidate for a residency. However, desire to pursue a residency is not a requirement for the position.

Applicant Requirements

  • Be a member of the RCVS at the time of starting the internship.
  • Completion of a Rotating internship would be preferable.
  • Proficiency in the English language, excellent communication skills, reliability, ability to work & think clearly under pressure, and good interpersonal skills are essential.
  • You will work an average of 32.5 hours per week over the duration of the Internship. This includes weekend and night cover, with the appropriate time off in lieu. Your holidays will be built into the rota.
