Join Our Team

We’re looking for a Head Veterinary Nurse to lead our nursing team in our well-established, RCVS-accredited practice in Leyton. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated RVN to take the next step in their career, overseeing the daily clinical operations and helping shape the future of our practice. Our practice is easily accessible from Essex and conveniently located next to Leyton Midland Road station, making commuting straightforward.

Your Role & Responsibilities

As Head Nurse, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the clinical day, leading and supporting the nursing team, and managing the rota, including holiday requests and return-to-work processes. You will oversee and run nurse consultations, anaesthesia, and patient care while working closely with our Clinical Director and Practice Manager to develop and grow the practice. You will also play a key role in supporting the professional development of the nursing team, including schedule 3 procedures. We actively encourage CPD and would welcome requests for certificate funding and additional learning opportunities.

A Rota That Works for You

This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday with shifts between 7:45 am and 7:30 pm, including participation in a 1:4 Saturday morning rota. There are no out-of-hours or Sunday requirements. We are happy to discuss part-time hours and flexible working arrangements to accommodate individual needs.

About Our Practice

Our Leyton practice has been serving the local community since the 1970s. We are fully equipped with a modern in-house laboratory, a dedicated theatre, digital radiography, dental x-ray, and three consulting rooms. Our team is made up of four RVNs, two care assistants, five vets (including two part-time Clinical Directors), a reception team, and a Practice Manager. We are dedicated to delivering the highest standard of general practice veterinary care and have the support of a visiting ultrasonographer and a certificate-holder surgeon for more complex cases.
