FULL DESCRIPTION

Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Midforest Veterinary Practice, Lyndhurst, Hampshire — Salary up to £70,000 DOE, welcome bonus up to £5,000 and relocation allowance up to £5,000

About the Role

Midforest Vets has been proudly supporting the local community for over 40 years. We're now looking for a confident and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team. Our patients include cats, dogs, rabbits and the occasional tortoise or hamster. The role has a bias towards consultations, with a strong focus on working up medical cases and building continuity with clients. Surgical work is largely routine with a high number of dental procedures. There is a significant element of sole charge. You may also work occasionally from our Totton branch, 15 minutes away. Across both sites you'll have access to digital radiography, dental X-ray, ultrasound and in-house blood analysis.

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is the UK and Europe's leading veterinary care group, made up of over 900 practices and referral hospitals.

How You'll Make a Difference

  • Work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver high standard patient and client care.
  • Continue to develop clinical skills and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Full-time role: four 10-hour days Monday to Thursday, with Fridays off. 1 in 5 Saturday morning rota (8:30am–12:30pm) as sole charge. No out-of-hours or on-call.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

  • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility) with the RCVS.
  • Experience in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships.
  • Proactive approach to learning, openness to feedback.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

How We'll Support You

  • Clear career pathways and progression opportunities.
  • Funded CPD allowance and access to [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] academy training centres.
  • £1,250 annual Care Fund for every vet.
  • Access to mentors, regional clinical coaches, and peer networks.

What We Offer Our Team

  • Private medical insurance.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay.
  • BVA membership, VDS cover & RCVS fees.
  • Cycle to Work and Green Car schemes.
  • Retail discounts and cashback offers.
