About the Role

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] are looking for a confident Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join our welcoming and supportive team. We’re proud to work closely with the farming community, providing reliable, sustainable veterinary care that supports both livestock health and the long-term success of our clients’ businesses. This is a role where strong relationships and trust are just as important as clinical expertise.

The caseload offers excellent variety, with your week including TB testing, routine and preventative work, herd health planning, emergency care and dispensary work, alongside regular client interaction. Artificial insemination, primarily in cattle, also forms part of the role. Our clients range from smallholdings to large commercial farms, mainly beef and sheep, with some dairy, pigs and the occasional alpaca, giving a diverse and rewarding workload.

This is predominantly an ambulatory role, so a full driving licence is essential. You’ll be fully equipped with a vehicle, mobile phone and laptop, along with the tools you need to work confidently in the field. While most work is carried out on-farm, you’ll also have access to practice facilities when required.

  • Herd health planning and emergency care
  • Artificial insemination (cattle)
  • Dispensary work and client consultation
  • Sole charge and on-call duties (1 in 4 rota)

Requirements

  • Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or eligibility)
  • Experience in clinical practice, confident in routine medical and surgical cases
  • TB testing qualification essential
  • Full driving licence
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

What We Offer

  • 6.6 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays
  • Private medical insurance
  • Enhanced family leave and pay
  • BVA membership, VDS cover & RCVS fees
  • Cycle to Work and Green Car schemes
  • Retail discounts and cashback offers
  • Reduced-cost veterinary care for your own pets
