Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a confident Veterinary Surgeon for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role is based in Hungerford, Berkshire, and offers a salary up to £60,000 DOE. This is a full-time position (40 hours over 4 days) with weekend and on-call duties.
About the Role
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] has been caring for pets for over 50 years. We are looking for a confident Veterinary Surgeon to join our experienced team. Our patients include cats, dogs, rabbits, small furries, occasional exotics and wildlife. As a hospital practice, you will have a balance of consultations and theatre time, with routine procedures and complex surgeries. You will be supported by advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment including digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, multiparameter monitoring, capnography, vessel sealing and electrosurgery. This role includes elements of sole charge. You will join a large team of 12 veterinarians, 14 RVNs and a dedicated client care team. There are two certificate holders in surgery, two in medicine and one in ophthalmology, alongside a visiting cardiology diplomate.

How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload. You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues. This is a full-time role of 40 hours across four days, Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm. Weekends and out-of-hours are part of the rota, with on-call covered from home and time off in lieu provided. This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
You Might Be a Great Fit If...
- A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
- Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
