About the Role

We are looking for a confident RVN to join our team at Hamilton Specialist Referrals as a Medicine & Neurology Veterinary Nurse on a full-time or part time basis.

Hamilton Specialist Referrals was born of the belief that there is room for a new wave of veterinary excellence across the UK. There is a strong focus on providing a personal and reassuring client experience from first contact through to discharge. Excellent clinical care delivered in a friendly and supportive manner to referring vets, is paramount to the team. The hospital is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is able to offer the most advanced treatment options available for orthopaedic, neurology, soft tissue, and internal medicine cases. We have a dedicated Imaging suite, which includes a 16-slice CT scanner, 1.5 Tesla MRI, fluoroscopy, separate radiography and ultrasound room.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Medicine & Neurology Veterinary Nurse, you will deliver advanced nursing care flexibly across these two services, supporting the case management of a variety of complex cases.

You’ll work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing specialist nursing expertise to patient care, supporting clinical decision-making, and sharing knowledge with colleagues to continually improve standards within Medicine and Neurology. Our diverse case load offers a fantastic opportunity for a nurse who thrives in a procedural, diagnostics led environment. You will play a key role in supporting a wide range of investigations and medical and surgical procedures, including endoscopy, imaging support in MRI, CT and Ultrasound, neurosurgical procedures and advanced diagnostics/sampling.

A full time position covers 40 hours per week, across a rolling 6 week rota. We offer a 4 day working week, which comprises 4 x 9.25hr shifts during the week, plus a 1 in 6 weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday). We have a bank holiday rota which currently works out at 2 per year. We will also welcome part time applications for this position.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Significant experience in clinical practice with an interest in Medical and Neurological cases.
  • Experience working with complex cases in a referral or advanced-care setting would be advantageous, but full training will be provided in the role
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and continuous improvement
