Occupational Therapist CAMHS - Band 6

Job Overview

As our OT, you’ll lead and innovate across the Thrive Framework’s needs-led groupings. You’ll bring advanced OT expertise in functional assessment, sensory processing, and occupational formulation to co-create meaningful outcomes with young people. Working in a multidisciplinary, neurodevelopmentally aware, trauma-informed and strengths-based way, you’ll design therapeutic interventions, coordinate care with partners (schools, social care, voluntary sector), and guide safe care planning. You will assess, treat, monitor and evaluate progress of OT treatment.

Main Duties

  • Manage own caseload and balance clinical/non-clinical tasks.
  • Provide specialist OT assessment and treatment for complex young people with additional physical disabilities, challenging behaviour and sensory impairments.
  • Facilitate improvement and development of cognitive, sensory, physical, interpersonal and intrapersonal functions.
  • Coordinate care with partners and champion quality improvement.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with Health Professions Council
  • Experience with seriously mentally ill clients during acute phases
  • Understanding of ICPA and risk assessment
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983
  • Basic IT keyboard skills

Desirable Criteria

  • Active engagement with RCOT
  • Experience with children and young people in mental health services
  • Experience using CBT/DBT/Motivational Interviewing
  • Community experience
