Maintenance Assistant

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is looking for a skilled Maintenance Assistant to join [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] at Broughton House, LN5 0SL. Full-time role, 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday. Salary: £13.15 per hour rising to £13.45 after 3 months.

About the role

Broughton House is a 29 bed specialist residential service for adults with severe learning disabilities, autism and behaviours that challenge. You will carry out day-to-day maintenance tasks on the fabric of the building, its services and grounds.

Your day-to-day

  • Undertake day-to-day maintenance and planned remedial works to keep building, plant, and services in working order
  • Carry out basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work
  • Ensure all equipment used is clean and well maintained
  • Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards
  • Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights
  • Test and record all portable appliances as specified in Group procedures

We are looking for people who have

  • Previous experience working within a team and on your own in a maintenance / building contractors role
  • Previous experience of repairing various equipment, painting, decorating, plumbing, carpentry and basic wiring
  • Full driving license and own car
  • Preferably a City & Guilds qualification or equivalent in Carpentry or plumbing
  • Working knowledge of health and safety requirements
  • Good practical knowledge in basic plumbing
