Job Summary
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking an actuary with expertise in Canadian defined benefit pension plans to play a key role in the ongoing development, support, and evolution of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Canadian functionality. This role requires deep knowledge of the Canadian pension legislative and financial reporting landscape. Responsibilities include product support, testing, training, documentation, and potentially programming, if interested.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pension actuary looking to apply their expertise at the leading actuarial software provider. This unique role allows candidates to work remotely from any location within Canada, with visits to our Greenwich, CT office as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Canadian Pension Subject Matter Leadership – Act as a subject matter expert for Canadian defined benefit pension plans within [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. Maintain and enhance [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Canadian functionality to reflect current legislation, regulations, CIA Standards of Practice, and pension related financial reporting requirements. Serve as a primary point of contact for Canadian clients on technical pension matters.
- Product Testing & Quality Assurance – Test [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] enhancements and client specific solutions to ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and consistency with actuarial standards.
- Client Support, Training & Documentation – Provide expert guidance to [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] users on Canadian pension applications. Work closely with programmers and consultants to design and implement client solutions. Prepare and maintain clear, practical user documentation and training materials.
- Software Programming (Optional) – [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is coded primarily in APL; no prior programming experience is required, and training is provided.
Education & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related discipline. CIA designation (FCIA) or significant progress toward qualification is a plus.
Experience, Skills, & Core Competencies
- 8+ years of experience performing actuarial valuations of defined benefit pension plans under Canadian legislation
- Deep knowledge of Canadian pension funding rules, regulations, CIA Standards of Practice, and pension related financial reporting
- Experience with pension projections and forecasting a plus
- Experience managing projects and professional relationships is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi disciplinary team environment

Salary Transparency & Total Rewards
The estimated base salary range for this role is CAD$225,000.00 - CAD$275,000.00 per year (Ontario & BC Only). Beyond base salary, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package.
