Research Fellow or Research Assistant in Cryogenic Fuel Systems (2 posts)

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is hiring a Research Fellow or Research Assistant in Cryogenic Fuel Systems. This is a fixed-term contract for 30 months based at Cranfield Campus, Bedfordshire. Salary ranges from £29,363 to £34,332 per annum (Research Assistant) or £37,897 per annum (Research Fellow), with potential progression to £40,180.

Role Description

We welcome applications from skilled and motivated researchers to design and develop experimental cryogenic fuel research facilities.

About the Role

This role will lead the design, development and operation of novel fuel experimental research facilities. The postholder will act as a primary contact for rig build, safety assurance, and day-to-day operation of complex high pressure/temperature experimental rigs supporting research projects.

About You

  • Educated to PhD level (or nearing completion)
  • Experience of experimental rig design and development, including control, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
  • Knowledge of health and safety practice, including risk assessment, COSHH, and safe operation of high-risk facilities involving electrical systems and pressurised or flammable gases
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, maintain research documentation, and provide leadership within a laboratory or test-rig environment
