The Role

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a reliable, adaptable and committed Secondary Cover Teacher to provide regular cover across secondary classes. The successful candidate will supervise and support pupils’ learning during teacher absences, maintain a positive classroom environment and ensure continuity of learning. This role requires flexibility, strong classroom management and the ability to work with pupils across different subjects and year groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide cover teaching for secondary classes, from 6ème to 3ème
  • Supervise pupils’ learning using work and instructions provided by teaching staff
  • Maintain a calm, positive and purposeful classroom environment
  • Support pupils with their learning during cover lessons
  • Adapt quickly to different classes, subjects and learner profiles
  • Liaise with teaching staff, vie scolaire and school leadership where needed
  • Support pupils’ behaviour, wellbeing and safety in line with [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] expectations
  • Follow all [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] policies and procedures, including safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety, and data protection requirements

Person Specification

Essential

  • Teaching qualification or relevant school-based experience
  • Experience teaching, supervising or supporting pupils in a secondary school setting
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and confidently to different subjects and year groups
  • Calm, professional and reliable approach
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
  • Ability to work in a bilingual, multicultural or international school environment
  • Right to work in the UK at the time of application

Desirable

  • Experience providing cover in a secondary school
  • Experience teaching or supporting learning across more than one subject area
  • Knowledge of the French education system and/or the UK education context
  • Ability to work in both French and English
