Electrical Design Engineer

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], a [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] company, is hiring an Electrical Design Engineer in Liverpool. This hybrid, full-time role involves designing power generation systems and supporting projects from concept to commissioning.

About the Role

At [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], our Electrical Design Engineers play a vital role in shaping energy systems for hospitals, industry and communities. You will take conceptual designs and develop fully engineered solutions for gas-powered generation, CHP, battery energy storage, hydrogen, solar, wind and microgrids. You will carry out power system studies (load flows, fault analysis, protection, harmonic assessments) and support projects from tender through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design resilient power systems meeting contractual, technical and regulatory requirements
  • Produce specifications, calculations, equipment selection and detailed design documentation
  • Perform power system studies including load flows, fault analysis, harmonic assessments, voltage flicker and G99 simulations
  • Support sales with tender designs and technical submissions
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Design Engineers, CAD technicians and project teams
  • Contribute to HAZOPs and risk assessments

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or HNC/HND with substantial relevant experience)
  • Experience in power generation or closely related industry (typically 1–25MW)
  • Knowledge of LV and MV electrical systems, power trains and control/instrumentation
  • Proficiency in power system analysis software and AutoCAD (or similar)
  • Proactive, dependable, collaborative approach
  • Professional registration, CHP, HV substation, ETAP or NERS experience beneficial
