The Role
Work as part of the underground electrical team to ensure all mining machinery and equipment performs safely and efficiently through planned inspections, effective fault-finding, timely repairs, and proactive maintenance.
The Key Responsibilities
- Safety & Compliance: Complete statutory inspections and reports; comply with Health & Safety regulations; conduct electrical isolations; maintain awareness of safety standards.
- Maintenance & Operations: Inspect, fault-find, maintain and repair face-line machinery, conveyor systems, switchgear; install underground communications and lighting; utilise Permit to Work system.
- Teamwork & Communication: Collaborate with electrical and production colleagues; provide feedback on equipment condition; interpret technical manuals.
- Problem Solving & Decision Making: Respond independently to equipment issues; suggest improvements.
- Resource Use: Use parts and consumables responsibly.
Experience & Qualifications
- Time-served electrician in heavy industrial, mining, or processing environment.
- Experience with HV/LV systems (up to 11kV), conveyor and pumping systems.
- Understanding of computer/PLC control systems desirable.
- Level 2 Skills for Life or GCSE equivalent.
- Electrical engineering qualification.
- Certification in Risk Assessment and IOSH Working Safely (or willingness to achieve).
