About The Role

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring for a Director of Practice on a fixed term basis. Due to our Director of Practice going on maternity leave later this year, we are offering a rare opportunity for a dedicated and people focused individual to join [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Group as our new Director of Practice.

This is a largely site based, people facing role covering all three branches in Holywell, Prestatyn and Abergele. Your main base will be at Holywell, where our operations and surgical facilities are located. The remaining two sites are primarily consulting branches.

You will have overall line management responsibility for approximately 15 team members, making leadership, communication, and relationship building central to your success. You will also have the support of our Head Nurse and Senior Veterinary Surgeon as part of the management team.

Working closely with the Senior Vet, Head RVN and [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day to day running of the practice while enhancing both team and client experience. Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading, supporting, and motivating the practice team to foster a positive and collaborative working environment
  • Maintaining practice standards and ensuring compliance with RCVS guidelines
  • Financial management, including: Managing a practice budget, Stock control, Initiating capital expenditure requests, supporting payroll production and queries
  • Human Resources responsibilities, including: Line management, Appraisals, Staff rotas
  • Oversight of building and equipment maintenance across all three sites
  • Ensuring Health & Safety compliance with team support
  • Recruitment and monitoring of mandatory and ongoing training compliance
  • Acting as the first point of contact for IT queries (with support from a central IT function)
  • Handling and resolving client complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Attending and leading practice and area meetings

The Practice and Team

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Group has three, well-established veterinary practices in Holywell, Prestatyn and Abergele, in the beautiful area of North Wales. Our surgeries are close to the border and the A55, with links to Chester, Liverpool and Manchester nearby – for those who prefer the city environment. However, we are well located for those who enjoy the rural side of life, with plenty of countryside and hill walking areas.

We offer the highest standards of first opinion care to small animals, investing in our practice, patient care and our team is important to us. Therefore, we would be keen to support your expertise and incorporate any areas of interest into the services our practice already provides.

All of of our surgeries are fully equipped with all the usual toys including; in-house blood and lab facilities for routine work, ultrasound and x-ray facilities. 2 of our sites also have dental x-ray equipment.

Our team consists of, 1 Senior Veterinary Surgeon, 3 Veterinary Surgeons,1 Head Veterinary Nurse, 4 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 6 Support Staff

A full UK driving license is required, as the role involves travel between sites and attendance at internal meetings.
