About the Opportunity
This opportunity is with a long-established, privately owned multidisciplinary engineering Consultancy operating across the UK. The business delivers integrated engineering services across the built environment, combining Civil and Structural Engineering expertise with a range of complementary disciplines. Its collaborative structure supports projects from early feasibility through detailed design and construction, providing clients with coordinated, technically robust solutions across multiple sectors.
The Structural Engineering team forms a core part of the Consultancy’s service offering and is recognised for delivering innovative, efficient and sustainable structural solutions. The team works on a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from smaller refurbishment and residential schemes through to complex, large-scale commercial and mixed-use developments. Design work is informed by a strong understanding of buildability, materials and sustainability, with an emphasis on optimising structural forms and reducing material usage through intelligent analysis and modern 3D design tools.
Role & Responsibilities
- Analysis, design and detailing of structural elements in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
- Producing calculations, drawings, technical specifications and written reports in accordance with UK design standards and building regulations.
- Undertaking site inspections and responding to contractor queries during construction.
- Ensuring designs are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary design team in Leeds city centre.
- Collaborating with colleagues across Civil Engineering and other technical disciplines.
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members.
- Assisting with technical reviews and contributing to continuous improvement of design processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree level in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Working towards Chartered status with a recognised professional institution.
- Demonstrable experience in a Consultancy environment.
- Strong technical competence and sound engineering judgement.
- Ability to manage workloads across multiple projects.
- Clear communication skills and proactive approach.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team.
