Job Introduction

You will be based from Britannia House in Bradford, reporting through to the Service Manager for Mental Capacity and Legal Assurance working with support from a business administrator to undertake preventative action where people and their families are concerned about the quality of their care and support. The aim is to delay and prevent the escalation of concerns into formal complaint or safeguarding adult procedures. You will be a member of the Risk Enablement Panel working to the Principal Social Worker for Adults to ensure people are supported to exercise their rights to live independent lives.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our forward thinking, rights based Mental Capacity and Legal Assurance Service. We have a team of skilled, dedicated, friendly and supportive staff who are committed to upholding people’s human rights through their social work practice. However, as our service evolves, we are looking for a new Social Worker colleague to join us and continue to develop and provide a high quality service for the people we support. You will have a strong commitment to human rights at the heart of social work practice and will know and understand the importance of the European Convention on Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. You will not want to make any decision without the person you are there to support being in control and being enabled to fully participate.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the provision of Social Work support for adults.
  • Provide an effective Social Work service for cases where the person or their family are escalating concerns about the quality of care and support.
  • Safeguard Adults including those at significant risk of harm, upholding their rights, assessing and managing risk and undertaking critical decision making including taking professional responsibility for decision making.
  • Operate within departmental policy, practice and procedures.
