In 2017, the UK Ministry of Defence commissioned a new fleet of nine P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol aircraft. The programme includes a £130m investment in a Strategic Facility at RAF Lossiemouth. The ‘Atlantic Building’ comprises squadron accommodation, crew and maintainer training facilities, flight planning areas, workshops and a three-bay aircraft hangar.
Role Overview
- Senior [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] management position responsible for leading maintenance and support activities for UK Poseidon MRA Mk1 and E-7 Wedgetail AEW1 aircraft operating at RAF Lossiemouth.
- Reports to the Accountable Manager/BDUK MRO Director and acts as the MAA Form 4 holder for the MAOS Part 145 maintenance environment.
- Leads a team of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] employees and managers responsible for maintenance planning and execution.
- Engages with on-site stakeholders to ensure maintenance is completed on schedule and in full regulatory compliance.
- Responsible for budget allocation, performance reporting, and regular reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for maintenance planning, production control, and execution of scheduled maintenance.
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet regulatory, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
- Act as key primary [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] interface with station leadership and other stakeholders.
- Manage resource allocation, contractor interfaces, and logistics.
- Prepare and present performance, safety and budget reports.
- Support airworthiness by working closely with CAMO and applicable regulatory systems.
Basic Qualifications
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance requiring 5 years continuous UK residency
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience managing technical staff in a regulated aircraft maintenance environment.
- Strong project management skills and familiarity with military and commercial airworthiness systems.
- Experience working with CAMO and delivering maintenance support to tight schedules.
- Ability to interact professionally with senior military and corporate officials.
- EASA Part 66 Licence or relevant degree is desirable.
