The Role

  • Managing proof mailings
  • Circulating jackets for approval and proof-reading files for press
  • Compiling text corrections and pages of praise for paperback titles
  • Support the publishing of a book by attending book-related events
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Building a friendly and professional rapport with internal teams, authors, agents and agents’ assistants
  • Assist with scheduling and making arrangements for internal and external meetings
  • Book fair schedule management
  • Ad hoc processing of invoices
  • Coordinating and circulating agendas, minutes and action points after meetings
  • Mailing out contractual copies
  • Collating and organising key updates on sales, marketing and publicity as required
  • Maintaining a submissions log
  • Maintenance of Biblio records

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A demonstrable passion for publishing is essential. The successful candidate will have real market awareness across fiction and non-fiction, and be able to talk about books in the market
  • Ability to work efficiently and prioritise tasks as they come in
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills
  • Top-notch project management skills, good organisation and meticulous attention to detail
  • Creative thinker who can contribute to discussions on submissions
