GB Project Development Lead

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Take full ownership of project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and HSE for 1-2 large transmission-scale battery projects.
  • Planning Process: Lead consenting process including applications, council and community engagement, and managing external consultants.
  • Land Management: Work with land team for agreements and act as main contact for landowners.
  • Design Review: Use knowledge of batteries and electrical design to review project plans for safety and buildability.
  • Team Leadership: Coordinate project team and hire external experts.
  • Line Management: Mentor Project Managers, set standards, provide planning expertise, and manage performance.
  • Strategy: Shape development strategy, monitor budgets and risks, stay ahead of battery technology and market shifts.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 4+ years in project development and consents (renewable energy sector preferred).
  • Project management skills including schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
  • Strong understanding of UK consenting regimes (including environmental assessments).
  • Experience managing project teams and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing external consultants and engaging stakeholders.
  • General understanding of grid, design, and land elements of development.
  • Personable approach and experience reporting to senior team members.
  • BESS experience highly desirable.
