GB Project Development Lead

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is looking for a senior Project Development Lead to drive their GB battery storage portfolio. This is a permanent, full-time hybrid role based in London with a salary of £88,000 - £110,000 per year.

Your Mission

As our GB Project Development Lead, you’ll be at the heart of delivering [Employer hidden]’s 4 GW+ battery storage portfolio. This is a senior, hands-on role where you’ll have the freedom to run your own projects while helping the wider team grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Take full ownership of 1–2 transmission-scale battery projects, managing schedules, budgets, risk registers, and HSE. Navigate the planning process, secure land agreements, manage design reviews, and lead the project team.
  • Line Management: Mentor Project Managers, set standards for planning applications and reporting, be the planning expert across the business, and manage performance.
  • GB Development Strategy: Shape future strategy, monitor portfolio budgets and risks, and stay ahead of battery technology and market changes.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 4+ years in project development and consents, ideally renewable energy
  • Project management skills (schedules, budgets, risk registers)
  • Strong understanding of UK consenting regimes including environmental assessments
  • Experience managing project teams and mentoring
  • Experience managing external consultants and stakeholder engagement
  • General understanding of grid, design, and land elements
  • BESS experience highly desirable
