FULL DESCRIPTION

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is hiring a (Senior) Grid Connection Engineer to join their DevCon team. This permanent, full-time hybrid role focuses on accelerating battery energy storage deployment across GB networks. Key responsibilities include grid connection development, pre-construction engineering, construction support, and technical due diligence. Requires an Electrical Engineering degree and 5+ years in the GB electricity industry.

Key Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

  • Analyse the existing and future GB electricity network to inform project location and electrical characteristics.
  • Track industry developments from NESO, Ofgem, and CUSC.
  • Prepare and manage grid connection applications.
  • Act as primary interface with DNOs, TOs, and NESO.
  • Lead technical evaluation of sites and review SLDs and fault level contributions.
  • Support design development and power system studies for grid code compliance.
  • Contribute to lender and investor technical due diligence.
  • Review detailed design submissions and manage technical RFIs.
  • Support testing and commissioning, coordinating teams and contractors.
  • Assist with schedules, risk registers, and budgets.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

The skills you’ll need

  • Electrical Engineering degree (or equivalent) with 5+ years’ experience in GB electricity industry.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of grid connections across transmission and distribution.
  • Understanding of BESS asset design fundamentals.
  • Good understanding of G99 end-to-end process and pre-commissioning compliance.
  • Familiarity with Grid Code and CUSC requirements.
  • Understanding of CDM regulations.
  • Pragmatic, proactive approach with focus on quality and problem solving.
