Location: Croydon | Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 per year | Type: Full-time
About the Role
We are looking for a Maintenance Electrician to join our site‑based engineering team. This is a hands‑on role responsible for the electrical maintenance, repair and servicing of building infrastructure, with secondary support to production equipment and machinery. The role plays a key part in ensuring safe, reliable and compliant electrical systems, supporting continuous manufacturing operations and contributing to ongoing site improvements. This position is well suited to an experienced industrial or manufacturing electrician who enjoys problem‑solving, working independently, and being part of a collaborative engineering environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Building Electrical Systems: Maintain, fault‑find and repair site electrical infrastructure, including lighting, panels, circuits, power distribution and emergency systems. Ensure compliance with relevant electrical regulations, safety standards and internal procedures. Carry out routine inspections, testing and planned preventive maintenance.
- Production Equipment Support (Secondary): Support maintenance technicians with electrical faults on manufacturing equipment. Assist with wiring, testing and commissioning of new or upgraded machinery. Contribute to root‑cause analysis of electrical breakdowns.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Complete scheduled preventive maintenance activities. Accurately record work via CMMS or maintenance logs. Identify improvement opportunities to reduce downtime and increase reliability.
- Safety, Compliance & Reliability: Follow safe systems of work and electrical safety best practice. Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. Ensure all work meets quality, safety and reliability standards.
- Projects & Continuous Improvement: Support site upgrades, facility improvements and electrical projects. Assist with equipment relocations and layout changes. Provide input on electrical design, materials and system improvements.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with production, engineering, maintenance and external contractors. Provide clear updates on work status and expected downtime. Support and guide colleagues where required.
What You'll Need
Essential
- Fully qualified Electrician with AM2 (or equivalent final assessment)
- Recognised electrical apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- Experience in industrial, commercial or manufacturing environments
- Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation
- Confident working independently and diagnosing faults safely
Desirable
- Manufacturing or continuous production environment experience
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic systems
- Awareness of control systems, PLC wiring, VFDs or sensors
- Experience using CMMS systems
- Strong problem‑solving, IT and communication skills
