Senior Multi-Utility Designer - Post-Contract

Our team is growing, and we're excited to welcome a talented Senior Multi-Utility Designer – Post-Contract to join us.

As a Senior Multi-Utility Designer – Post-Contract, you’ll produce a detailed multi-utility design approval pack that will meet the requirements of all external stakeholders including the upstream DNO, GT, Incumbent Water Company, [Employer hidden], Fire Authority and external Solicitors for land rights. You will also line manage a team of designers and support trainees through their development programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership and Development – Provide effective leadership to Intermediate and Trainee Designers through coaching, technical guidance and day to day support, while managing people responsibilities and developing capability across the design team.
  • Construction Design and Review – Prepare and review multi utility construction designs, attending Winners Meetings to assess quoted designs, capturing feedback and ensuring all amendments are incorporated prior to CAD progression.
  • Variations, Approvals and Technical Documentation – Produce Design Variation Orders and formal design approval documentation, compiling comprehensive approval packs for electricity, gas and water networks.
  • Compliance, Governance and Design Assurance – Manage and prioritise design approval activities in line with required timescales, coordinating GIRS, NERS and WIRS reviews and ensuring designs are approved, tracked and controlled within simPRO.
  • Construction Release and Project Support – Issue final Approved for Construction drawings and distribute completed design documentation to clients and Project Managers to support efficient project mobilisation and delivery.

Preferred Experience / Qualifications

  • Multi-Utility Design Experience
  • HNC / Relevant Degree

The successful candidate will be resilient, adaptable, and results-focused, with strong IT literacy and experience using Microsoft Office tools. They will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
