Duty Manager – SPARK:York
£13.72 per hour | Variable weekly hours | Reports to: General Manager

SPARK:York is a social enterprise in the heart of the city, home to independent food and drink businesses, creative spaces, and co-working. We’re looking for a Duty Manager to help lead our vibrant venue, supporting the team and ensuring everything runs smoothly day-to-day.

Job Purpose
As Duty Manager, you’ll assist senior management with daily responsibilities, oversee the Ops Support Team, and provide stable leadership on shift. You’ll bring fresh ideas, set high standards, and make sure SPARK is always a safe, welcoming, and inspiring place for everyone who visits and works here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run shifts and oversee the day-to-day management of the venue.
  • Supervise and support staff, including training and delegation.
  • Act as the operational point of contact for events, supporting set-up, take-down, and guest needs.
  • Communicate professionally with suppliers, partners, and businesses on-site.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and handle feedback with professionalism.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, health & safety, and compliance.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in hospitality, events, or venue management.
  • Enjoys leading a team and empowering others.
  • Communicates confidently and professionally.
  • Brings energy, initiative, and a problem-solving approach.
  • Is flexible to work evenings and weekends. Available to work peak season (May-September).
