FULL DESCRIPTION

Operations Delivery Supervisor

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] Solutions is seeking an Operations Delivery Supervisor to lead rail service delivery at Crewe. Salary: £45,312 - £54,660 per year. Permanent, full-time.

The Vacancy

Keeping Britain Moving – Safely, Securely and Smarter Every Day

At [Employer hidden] Solutions (NTS), we do more than move freight – we move it safely, compliantly and with purpose. Our Rail Operations Delivery teams are at the heart of what we do, ensuring critical rail services run 24/7, 365 days a year with absolute professionalism and care.

We’re looking for a Operations Delivery Supervisor who thrives in a fast‑paced operational environment, enjoys working with people, and is passionate about safety, performance and continuous improvement.

About the Role

Reporting into the Senior Service Delivery Manager, this role plays a key part in leading and supporting the delivery of all rail services at your location. You’ll help manage and inspire a team of Traincrew, oversee terminal and yard operations, and act as an assurance lead for third‑party operators – all while keeping safety, service and commercial performance front and centre.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across Planning, Control, Engineering, Commercial, Standards and Training, ensuring the right people, skills and assets are in place to deliver an exceptional service, every time.

This is a hands‑on leadership role with real impact – offering variety, responsibility and the chance to deputise for the Operations Delivery Manager when needed.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leading People & Performance

  • Support the day‑to‑day line management of Traincrew, ensuring policies, procedures and working instructions are applied fairly and consistently
  • Ensure Traincrew availability, competence and compliance to deliver a robust 24/7/365 operation
  • Champion the NTS Performance Development approach, building a strong, engaged and high‑performing team
  • Support succession planning and develop future talent within Operations Delivery
  • Act as a mentor and coach to other leaders across Rail, role‑modelling the NTS Management Standards

Operational Excellence

  • Support the safe, secure and reliable delivery of all Operations Delivery activities
  • Ensure services meet customer expectations, commercial targets and all relevant railway and nuclear regulations
  • Oversee terminal, yard and depot operations, including third‑party assurance and train flow management
  • Work closely with Engineering to ensure assets are available and fit for purpose
  • Provide Operational On‑Call cover as required

Safety, Compliance & Assurance

  • Lead and champion a strong safety culture across Operations Delivery
  • Support safety, security and resilience activities at the location
  • Ensure all risk assessments and supporting documentation are current, relevant and robust
  • Support investigations and play an active role in internal and external audits
  • Ensure the Competence Development Plan (CDP) process is applied consistently in partnership with Standards & Training

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Act as a key interface with: Planning – supporting route learning and resource planning; Control – resolving roster and operational issues; Commercial – supporting business acceptance and decision‑making
  • Take part in working groups aligned to evolving business needs
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation and transformation across Operations Delivery
  • Represent Operations Delivery at internal and external meetings when required

What Success Looks Like

A safe, compliant and high‑performing operation. Engaged, motivated and competent Traincrew. Strong relationships across NTS and with external partners. A culture that lives and breathes Freedom, Helpfulness and Drive.

Our Commitment

At NTS, safety comes first, and people matter. You’ll play a visible role in championing equality, diversity and inclusion, helping us create a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported and able to perform at their best.

The Kind of People We’re Looking For

We’re interested in who you are, not just what’s on your CV. You’re likely to thrive at NTS if you: take ownership, are collaborative, care about doing the right thing, are curious and motivated, communicate openly, and are comfortable in a safety‑critical environment.

You don’t need to tick every box on day one — we value potential, attitude and alignment with our culture just as much as experience.

Benefits

  • 30 Days holidays plus 8 bank holidays
  • Buy / Sell annual leave
  • Health shield
  • Nuclear Pension scheme
  • Hybrid working
  • Family friendly
