Business Development Manager

The Role
The post holder will support Group Leaders and other researchers at the Institute to aid them in their interactions with industry, supporting the establishment of partnerships with industry and guiding the protection and commercialisation of the Institute's discoveries which could have a transformative impact on society. This post requires a wide range of skills including diligence, patience, determination, ability to understand the science involved in a range of new technologies, and appreciation of how new technology creates customer value.
The Ideal Candidate
- Post-graduate level qualification in a relevant scientific discipline (molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, food safety science, microbiology, metagenomics, sequencing) OR undergraduate degree in relevant science with post-graduate degree in business administration.
- Significant experience in relationship management, intellectual property protection, project management, engagement with commercial partners, negotiation of deals and contracts.
- Ideally worked in a licensing and/or research partnerships role with experience of commercialisation of early-stage technologies and good understanding of HEIs.
Additional Information
Salary on appointment will be within the range £44,500 to £55,000 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post offered on an indefinite basis. It brings together scientists and clinicians in a state-of-the-art building on the Norwich Research Park.
