FULL DESCRIPTION

Research Scientist

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is hiring a Research Scientist to join Dr Matthew Gilmour's group. This is a full-time, on-site position in Norwich, UK, with a salary of £37,500 to £45,350 per annum (22-month contract).

The Role

As a member of a research team at [Employer hidden], the role sits within a highly collaborative environment. The postholder will take ownership of linked computational and experimental workstreams using genomic and ecological data to generate hypotheses and design laboratory studies.

  • Analysing microbial genome and metagenome datasets to characterise population structure, diversity, and adaptive traits
  • Investigating microbial communities associated with foods and production environments
  • Designing and delivering laboratory-based studies, including functional and fitness-based assays
  • Integrating results across datasets and systems
  • Working directly with industry and public sector partners

The Ideal Candidate

Candidates will have a PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, Bioinformatics, or Biochemistry, with experience in metagenome and microbial genome data analysis and molecular microbiology skills. Knowledge of bacterial biofilms is desirable. A proven track record in publishing scientific findings and high emotional intelligence for team working are required.
