Senior Research Scientist

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is hiring a Senior Research Scientist to join the Laboratory of Prof Daniel Figeys in the Microbes and Food Safety programme.

Salary: £45,450 to £56,750 per annum | Contract: Full time until 31 March 2028

Location: Norwich Research Park, Norwich, UK

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Research Scientist to join a collaborative team studying xenobiotics-gut microbiome interactions as well as developing precision microbiome intervention trials. The ideal candidates will have expertise in laboratory-based microbiome studies, intervention trials, and bioinformatics. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary group of researchers and have access to state-of-the-art infrastructure to design, develop, and apply innovative approaches for microbiome research.

The main foci of this position are to advance precision prebiotic microbiome intervention trials aimed at promoting healthy ageing and to study the interactions of prebiotics, drugs and other xenobiotics on the gut microbiome. The post-holder will support the Group Leader with day-to-day running of the lab, including line management of staff, overseeing budgets, and leading the scientific direction.

Ideal Candidate

  • PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or relevant fields
  • Knowledge of experimental microbiology relevant to live microbiome studies
  • Experience with bioinformatic analysis of data
  • Significant previous experience in microbiome laboratory experiments
  • Experience with preparing documents for ethical approval
  • Ability to manage staff and budgets

Additional Information

Salary on appointment will be within the range £45,450 to £56,750 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post available until 31 March 2028.
