Salary: £35,300 to £43,750 per annum

Contract: Full-time, 24 months

The Role

The Research Scientist will work on a project developing new approaches to engineer bacteria to transform recovery and processing of important metals. This will be part of an exciting multi-centre project, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team within the [Employer hidden] and across the UK. The postholder will apply transposon mutagenesis to develop strains with improved characteristics. The role sits within the Webber group, liaising closely with the Warren group and the Charles group at QIB.

The Ideal Candidate

Candidates should have a PhD in microbiology or a related discipline. Essential knowledge includes transposon mutagenesis approaches, applied environmental microbiology, and previous experience in antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Experience in bioinformatics and running bioinformatic pipelines is beneficial. Excellent communication and organisational skills, experience in training lab members, and the ability to work independently are essential.

Additional Information

Salary on appointment will be within the range £35,300 to £43,750 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post for a contract of 24 months.
