Laboratory Technician

Role Description
Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technician to join the [Employer hidden], based in Norwich, UK. The successful candidate will provide a high standard of technical support to research staff in the Quadram Institute. They will maintain safe and effective laboratories and ensure good laboratory practice.
Key Responsibilities
- General housekeeping and glassware handling
- Media preparation and stock management
- Providing services to underpin research programmes and postgraduate student projects
- Fume cupboard monitoring and testing
- Safe waste, biological waste stream management and chemical disposal
Ideal Candidate Requirements
- At least 3 A Levels (or equivalent)
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science
- Recent experience working in a multiuser biological research laboratory
- Skills in autoclave control, glassware function and media preparation
- Organised, able to work independently and flexibly within a small team

The Quadram Institute is a new interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to understanding how food and microbes interact to promote health and prevent disease. Its mission is to deliver healthier lives through innovation in gut health, microbiology and food.
