Job Description

We're looking for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the Laboratory of Dr Paul Kroon in our Food, Microbiome and Health programme. The Postdoctoral Researcher will work on the BBSRC-funded Delivering Sustainable Wheat ISP and will be the person largely responsible for carrying out the research objectives assigned to [Employer hidden] in this large, multi-organisation collaborative research programme. You will collaborate with the research groups of Professor Fred Warren and Dr Cathrina Edwards. The postholder will be required to carry out experimental research and associated activities necessary to achieve QIB's objectives in the Delivering Sustainable Wheat ISP.

The Role

  • Carry out experimental research on digestion and bioavailability of micronutrients.
  • Use INFOGEST simulated human digestion protocols.
  • Use Glahn CaCo2 models to assess micronutrient absorption.
  • Liaise with partner institutes (John Innes Centre, Rothamsted Research).

Ideal Candidate

  • PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry or related discipline.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture models, especially CaCo2.
  • Knowledge of simulated in vitro digestion models.
  • Good communication and organisation skills.
