Research Scientist

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a Research Scientist to join the laboratory of Prof Tom Wileman in the Food, Microbiome and Health programme based in Norwich, UK. This is a full-time, 3-month contract with a salary of £33,050 to £40,750 per annum.

The Role

The Research Scientist will undertake laboratory experiments to study the role played by LC3 associated phagocytosis (LAP) in controlling infection and inflammation. The post requires experience in the analysis of autophagy and LAP using microscopy and protein analysis. This will involve culture of primary fibroblasts and bone marrow derived macrophages coupled with high resolution microscopy including confocal live cell imaging and correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM). Experiments will be underpinned by experience in DNA manipulation, plasmid construction, qPCR, construction of viral transduction vectors and gene editing.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Cell Biology Immunology as well as demonstrated proficiency in the study of LC3 associated phagocytosis by microscopy and Western blot. The post requires excellent communication skills including demonstrated ability to present complex information with clarity coupled with an ability to work independently.
